When I walk into a room, the first thing I look at is the ceiling. My favorite place to be in a building is up on the roof.
I founded David Penney Company in 1990 to provide innovative mechanical engineering with great customer service. Incorporated it in 2003 as DPC Consulting Engineers.
Before that, I earned my BSME from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (1984) and then worked for "Hank," an ex-contractor turned engineer in San Francisco, where I earned my PE in 1987.
Hank always designed a job as if he was going to build it himself (which he had done for many years). Hank's famous common sense and hard-headed practicality inform my design style.
I'm a LEED AP and belong to ASME and ASHRAE. My hobbies include flying, golfing, and software design.
